Member Notices2011/01/31SANS 347 Courses NoticeWith the publication of the Pressure Equipment Regulation (PER) in 2009, SANS 347 - Categorisation and conformity assessment criteria for all pressure equipment became a mandatory standard that had to be implemented by all manufacturers and users of pressure equipment. Due to the complexity of the PER and SANS 347 a number of courses became available in the market. However, the presenters of these courses were not directly involved in writing the PER or SANS 347 and therefore, do not have the background knowledge on why certain decisions were taken and hence the intent of these documents. The Department of Labour PER Forum has requested that PCISA inform their members and the Composite Industry of these developments. It is therefore not advisable to attend courses that are not arranged by the SANS 347 committee. Note that the new edition of SANS 347 will go out for public comment in the near future. After the new edition is published, workshops will be held by the SANS 347 committee to explain the PER and SANS 347. Please forward this notice to any person that will benefit from this information.
